Welcome to this week’s Nursery News!

It is going to be a busy week again in the Nursery as we continue our walks around Longsight. We have already visited St Agnes’ Church and our Local Mosque. We have visited many shops and looked at the different types of house such as terraced and semi detached homes that surround our school. This week some children will be visiting the Dickenson Road Market and learn what items we can buy there. The children will have items on a list that they will be searching for and will take £2 to see what they can buy that can be shared with all the Nursery Children. Last week the children enjoyed tasting Asian cakes and sweets from a local cake shop on Slade Lane so the challenge is on!

The children will learn about money and we will add some pennies to the provision for the children to explore with in the Maths Area, Sand Tray and the Play-dough Area. This will help their understanding of the value of pennies and why we need to take money with us on the trips to buy things. You can support your child’s understanding at home by explaining what money you will need at the supermarket and pointing out labels on the shelves.

The home corner this week has been set up as a doctor surgery after last weeks walk to the Dickenson Road Health Centre. We have added bandages and other real items such as plasters, so don’t be alarmed if you see staff wrapped in bandages and plasters this week. It’s a part of our learning to look after each other!

Many Thanks,

The Nursery Team
