Chinese New Year and the power of the circle!

MONDAY

On Monday, we did some sewing, for Slade Grove School. They are working with an artist to create a big project, and they asked us to help. On green material, we sketched and sewed lips.

TUESDAY

On Tuesday, it was Chinese New Year and also internet safety day! We tried to do Chinese writing and make origami cranes. The cranes were SO hard! They had some very difficult folding patterns!

Chinese writing was very different to English writing, they had a lot of squiggly lines and dashes but they had good meanings.

We watched a video on why they celebrate Chinese New Year. Whenever there was a blue moon, a monster would come to China and kill many innocent people, he would then vanish. There was a wise man who said he did not like loud noises, fire, and the colour red. The next time the monster arrived, they set off crackers, made loud noises, lit fires and wore the the colour red head to toe. After that, they all celebrated.

For internet safety, we learned many new things, we learned about cookies and some children made a play about personal information.

On Wednesday, for P.E, we did the power of the circle. The power of the circle is a dance that people in the Inuit culture do. Sadly, we have no photos, but we had a great time dancing!
