Dear Parents and Carers
We’ve made it through our first half term of the new school year 2018!
You will have noticed our new additions to the playground – the colourful canopy area and the climbing trail. Both have proved very popular with the pupils and I’ve spotted quite a lot of children reading under the canopy during their lunchtime!
This is what has been happening this term:
- Year 2 went to Formby Beach, Formby for a seaside experience. The coach was very late coming back but I’m sure you’ll agree the pupils had a wonderful learning experience with memories they’ll cherish.
- Bishop Mark came early on and presented us with our official certificate of the SIAMS inspection from April. He said some lovely words about the school, the staff, parents and children.
- Year 3 went to Smithills’ Farm in Bolton to help kickstart their learning.
- Year 6 held their Macmillan Coffee morning in September – it was lovely to see so many mums and dads attend and enjoy the coffee and cake. They nearly raised £200 as well!
- Some of our Year 6 also went on their residential at Kingswood, Dearne Valley. I joined them for 2 days and it was amazing to see our pupils challenging themselves in learning new skills and building character.
- World Peace Day assembly ensured we spread our hope and message for global peace across the world by releasing balloons of hope.
- Harvest festival, where your HUGE donations of cans of soup, will go to help the charity, Lifeshare, feeding the homeless.
- We revealed our Bee in the City winners who won a family meal for four – well done the Dawoud and Safa! Please come in and have a look at their Bee spotting book.
- Parent consultations were well attended at the end of October.
- The Discglo party saw over 250 pupils celebrate achieving 100% attendance!
Please can I remind parents to not take pupils on holiday during term time as this impacts greatly on their learning and affects our attendance rates.
School will be closed on Friday 19th October and reopen on Monday 29th October 2018, promptly at 8.55am.
