Maths

Today, we are going to be sharing.

Yesterday we learned that to half something, you need to share it into 2 equal groups.

As well as sharing between 2 equal groups, we can also share between 3 equal groups or 4 equal groups, or more!

Let’s say I have 6 strawberries.

And I want to share them between 3 children – Tim, Sara and Adam.

To share them, we need to give one strawberry to each child until we have none left.

So we’ll give 1 strawberry to each child:

And then another strawberry to each child.

We have no strawberries left to give out.

We have shared all of the strawberries!

So when you share 6 strawberries between 3 people, they receive 2 strawberries each.

Now it’s your turn:

Draw pictures in your workbook or use your counters and some plates to help you share out these fruits:

Can you share 3 pears between 3 people?

Can you share 9 bananas between 3 people?

Can you share 4 apples between 4 people?

Can you share 8 oranges between 4 people?

Let me know how many children received each piece of fruit in the comments!

English

Ask somebody to read the Beegu story to you while you do the actions you have made. Click on the link below.

Beegu text

Poor Beegu! She is lost and all alone! I wonder what she is saying to people?

In your home learning book draw a big speech bubble like this.

6 Free Printable Scrapbooking Speech Bubbles

Write inside the speech bubble what you think Beegu is saying. Remember she is lost and all alone in a strange place. How might she be feeling?

If you want to challenge yourself write some questions Beegu might ask people. Remember to use ? at the end of a question. Here is an example to help you.

Use your phonics to help you spell each word and remember your finger spaces between each word.

You can ask your grown up to help you with this.

Here is a Beegu word mat with some words that you might use in your sentences.

Share your sentences in the comments below or email your work and we can put in on the website to show everybody.

A story to finish with:

I hope you enjoyed today’s learning!

Now that you’ve completed your maths and English learning, you can find some brilliant topic lessons in the Year 1 section (or Year 2 section if you are in Year 2).

These will be labelled as science, geography, history, art, PSHE, computing, design technology (DT), physical education (PE), music or religious education (RE).

Enjoy!

Stay safe and keep smiling!
