Find the sheet labelled ‘phonics – Tuesday 16th June‘ in your home learning pack and play Roll and Read!

Maths

Today we are going to continue finding 1 more.

Remember, one more is the number after.

You can use your counting skills or a number track like the one below to help you find one more.

Watch the ‘One More!’ video again if you need any help finding one more.

Find the sheet labelled ‘Maths – Tuesday 16th June‘ in your home learning pack.

The following questions are similar to the questions on your worksheet and you can use them to help you.

Choose a number from your number line if you don’t have any number cards.

I chose a 4.

I wrote 4 as a numeral, in words and wrote down the numbers up to 4 on the number track.

I then counted on to find that one more than 4 is 5.

Here, Ayaan says that he rolls 4 but 4 is smaller than 5.

When we find 1 more the number gets bigger.

He should have counted forwards one to get 6.

Now you can complete the worksheet you found in your learning pack.

If you’d like, you can post your answers in the comments section.

English

Over the next few weeks, we are going to be thinking about a story called Monkey See Monkey Do.

It is all about some cheeky monkeys and a man selling hats. Ask somebody in your family to read the story to you, every day if possible, so you can really get to know it. Make up some actions to go with the story to help you remember it. If you want a challenge, can you make a story map?

Discuss the questions below with a grown up.

A grown up could ask you each question, and you can tell them your answer.

If you feel confident, you could write some of your answers in your home learning book.

Questions

1) How did all the hats get tipped onto the road?

2) How do you think the hat seller felt when the monkeys picked up all the hats and why do you think that?

3) What does the word jabber mean?

4) What does ‘what a monkey sees, a monkey does’ mean? What are the monkeys doing?

5) Why did all the hats end up back on the ground?

6) What do you think will happen next?

A story to finish with:

I hope you enjoyed today’s learning!

Now that you’ve completed your maths and English learning, you can find some brilliant topic lessons in the Year 1 section (or Year 2 section if you are in Year 2).

These will be labelled as science, geography, history, art, PSHE, computing, design technology (DT), physical education (PE), music or religious education (RE).

Enjoy!

Stay safe and keep smiling!
