World Peace Day Celebrations

Welcome to this week’s Nursery update. We are happy to see the children are quickly settling into the Nursery Routines and becoming more familiar with the Nursery team too. Many thanks to all of the Parents and Carers who have stayed for the Nursery interviews, completing these with the staff will ensure that the children have the perfect start to their school life.

The children will be taking part in this week’s World Peace Celebrations. World Peace Day is on the 21st September every year. It is a chance for the whole world to focus on what peace means and to see the phenomenal impact just one day of peace can bring to millions of lives.

At St Agnes, we strive for peace all the time. We focus on respect, kindness, teamwork and equality; we also explore the negative forces in life which lead to unhappiness and conflict – anger, selfishness, bullying, disrespect. This is a part of our commitment as a Rights and Respecting School and our work in becoming a Peace Mala School.

We want to play our part on September 21st and will be working on activities for that day. Miss Lynton has told us all about the inspirational work of Jeremy Gilley and Peace One Day. We are going to take part in an assembly on Peace and tell everyone what it means to us, how we can help to live peaceful lives and what we have been doing to make sure we are peaceful in the  Nursery.

The whole school has learnt to sing and sign ‘I’d like to teach the world to sing’ – Listening to the children’s thoughts on how world peace can be achieved will make you really inspired! Our children believe they can make a difference, celebrating in this way helps us ensure they are global citizens for the future. If you have any questions about the event this week please see Miss Lynton.
