On Monday 11th February, we joined over one hundred schools as a part of the 6,000+ strong Young Voices Choir at the Manchester Arena. It was an extra special night, in which the Choir and Peace Mala children sang their hearts out at a concert organised to showcase children’s singing talents on an international stage! The children worked extremely hard to learn all of the words for the huge choir performance, which was around 30 songs within different medleys. The staff were extremely proud of all children at the arena, as their behaviour, as always, was impeccable!
The children were joined on the huge stage by Tony Hadley (Spandau Ballet lead singer), Sharlene Hector (Basement Jaxx lead singer) and Beau Dermott (Britain’s Got Talent). It was an extremely exciting time when we heard the artists sing and had the chance to sing-a-long with them! This is the school’s first time of being involved with Young Voices, so to be asked to do this was fantastic. The children practised hard for months and they were really excited about singing at the Manchester Arena.
The performance was a sight to behold in the evening. We had a huge audience to perform in front of and the children were all given mini torches which looked really amazing when the lights were dimmed. It was an incredibly amazing experience, fantastic for the children to see what it was like to sing in such a large venue in front of a huge audience and so memorable for all staff who were involved.
We would like to say a huge thank you to all staff who attended. But a HUGE thank you must go to Mrs Haggart who has been organising this event for months! We cannot wait to attend next years event!
