We Day 2019

On 6 March 2019 thousands of change-makers packed the The SSE Arena, Wembley, for an unparalleled event. A-list celebrities including The Duke and Duchess of Sussex (Prince Harry and Meghan Markle), Liam Payne, Nicole Scherzinger and Naomi Campbell, inspiring speakers and world leaders, mixed with the children across the country and St Agnes’ CE, celebrated a year of action that transformed communities and changed lives. WE is a global movement which encourages children to take part in global change, to be positive citizens of the future. We won our tickets for putting the needs of others before our own!

WE invited St Agnes’ CE children to the WE Day Event in London after we worked with them on their wonderful ‘ Education for All Event’. Our children then gave up their voices for the day with a special WE stay silent sponsored day at school. The children have raised just under £400 at the last count, such a special achievement by this small group of our pupils who are in our Peace Mala Ambassadors and our Student Council. They never give up and work tirelessly to ensure the voices of others are heard.

After a 4am pickup, we headed to London to watch the show at the SSE Wembley Arena. Have a look at the wonderful imaginary that depicts our day below:

WE was founded in 1995 by then-12-year-old Craig Kielburger after he read a newspaper story about Iqbal Masih, a former slave who was murdered after speaking out against the horrors of child labour. The tale struck a nerve, and Craig knew he had to do something to help free other children embroiled in child labour. Along with his older brother, Marc Kielburger, he started WE Charity.
