Maths

Today we are going to be matching objects.

We will be matching one object with another.

Sometimes, there will be too many objects.

Sometimes there will not be enough objects.

And sometimes there will be just the right amount of objects.

Let’s have a look at a question:

Is there enough food for each pet?

Cats

Draw lines to match each cat with a pouch of cat food.

Each cat has a food pouch so:

Yes, there is enough food for each cat.

Dogs

Draw a line to match each dog with a bone.

There is one dog left over so:

No, there is not enough food for each dog.

Tortoises

Here, it is a bit harder to match the objects using lines. So let’s count the objects instead.

Count the tortoises and count the flowers.

There are 5 tortoises and 6 flowers so:

Yes, there is enough food for each tortoise and there is one flower left over.

Now it’s your turn!

Find and complete the sheet labelled ‘Maths – Friday 19th June‘ in your home learning pack.

If you’d like, you can post your answers in the comments section.

A story to finish with:

I hope you enjoyed today’s learning!

Now that you’ve completed your maths and English learning, you can find some brilliant topic lessons in the Year 1 section (or Year 2 section if you are in Year 2).

These will be labelled as science, geography, history, art, PSHE, computing, design technology (DT), physical education (PE), music or religious education (RE).

Enjoy!
