A Local Artist – L.S Lowry

Linked to our topic Where We Live, in Art we have been exploring the work of L.S Lowry. L.S. Lowry is a famous local artist who was born in Stretford and later moved to Rusholme and then Pendlebury. His artwork reflects scenes within Manchester and are well known for their ‘match stick’ men.

The children looked at one piece in particular called ‘Industrial Landscape, 1955’. They imagined themselves being there and discussed what they could see, smell, hear and how would have felt.

You can see paintings by Lowry for FREE at the Lowry Art Gallery at Salford Quays. There is also more information on the PowerPoint below.
