Year 2 Home Learning Monday 4th May

Good morning Year 2 and welcome to a new week of learning at home. It was fantastic to speak to so many of you last week, your teachers miss you very much and it cheered us up to hear your voices.

Another thing which made me happy this morning was seeing how my sunflower has grown! It is now 4cm tall and I can see the roots growing at the bottom of my pot. Have any of you seen seedlings (this is the name for a new plant) yet?

In our English this week we will work on our story writing skills as we change the story of Little Red Riding Hood to make it set in Longsight. There are lots of things we can change so that we make the story our own. Where will Little Red Riding Hood live in your story? What kind of food might she take to Grandma? What kind of animal might she meet on her journey? There aren’t many woodcutters in Longsight, so who might save Little Red in your story?

Use this sheet to plan your ideas, you can use pictures or words on your plan.

Boxing up and making changes

We have been so impressed with the maths work you have been doing, I hope the videos are helping you to understand the activities. Your fractions knowledge is fantastic!

This week we start the Summer term learning from White Rose with Week 1 lesson 1, please check you have the right lesson as we are a bit behind, you should be finding three quarters today.

If you still have time and want to do some extra work, this lesson from the BBC is great for remembering all of our minibeast learning while practising using joining words. Can any of you remember my favourite joining word?
