Our trip to Stockport Air Raid Shelters

We were off to an educational journey to the fantastic air raid shelter in the beautiful Stockport. We entered a very cool area with two lovely ladies. One of the words we learnt was A.R.P it stands for Air Raid Precautions, they are important. The museum was a phenomenal place with very fun and exciting objects. There was a big bomb named Bertha, it was unexploded. The gas masks were fabulous and the toddler ones were really stylish.

We had an amazing time in the dark blackout tunnels. It is very cold and damp in the air raid shelters. The siren is magnificent and very LOUD! We found out that you should always keep your gas mask with you. The Anderson shelter is good because you can plant vegetables. The museum is very fun fabulous and interesting. The bomb rockets are very big. The shelters are bumpy so be careful.

In September we went to a trip to Stockport Air Raid Shelters. We learnt lots of songs like: “Run Rabbit”. We all said to Miss Goulden “thank you very much.”

It was the best trip EVER!

I wish I went again. It was fun and cool!

Sana has enjoyed doing lots of extra homework about World War Two. Here is some of it:

What does Blitz mean? Blitz means lightning war.

Where did the word Blitz come from? The word Blitz came from a German word “blitzkreg” which mean lightening war.

How did the Blitz begin? The Blitz began like this. In 1938 Hilter started to plan to invade Britain. So he started a plan but it took him weeks, weeks and weeks to plan it all out. When Hitler had his soldiers and told them what and how to do they went and walked, walked, walked and walked. They couldn’t do it like they invaded such countries as Holland, Poland and Norway. When German invaded them it was very easy for them because those 3 countries weren’t an island. So it was hard for him to invade Britain because it is surrounded by water which only mean one things that Britain is an island. Then the Terrible Germans had to drop bombs and here are some examples incendary bomb, explosive bomb and a fire bomb. How would you feel? I know I would feel terrible. It was horrible in that time, imagine if you were there….
