Good morning Year 4 and happy Friday!

Remember to look, if you haven’t already, at the work Mrs Pandolfi set for spelling on Monday.

Today is our last day thinking about Pandora’s Box. Remember, it is a myth. Here is a little video just to make sure you know what a myth is and it will help you answer question 1 below.

  1. How do you know that Pandora’s Box is a myth?
  2. Find one word in the text that means ‘promise’.
  3. What happened to Epimetheus?
  4. Find one word that means ‘defied’ (defy).
  5. Give one example of Zeus’ anger.
  6. Which event, in your opinion, was the most dramatic? Give reasons for your answer.

Pandora’s Box seems to give some lessons about how to live (whether you agree with them or not!). What are the main messages of the story?

  1. How do you know that Pandora’s Box is a myth?We know it is a myth because it has Greek gods, heroes and villains. It explains how evil came into the world.
  2. Find one word in the text that means ‘promise’. vowed
  3. What happened to Epimetheus? He was punished for disobeying Zeus. His brother was chained up so he became lonely. He was tricked into marrying Pandora because she was so beautiful 
  4. Find one word that means ‘defied’ (defy). disobeyed
  5. Give one example of Zeus’ anger. He chained up Prometheus. He tricked Epimetheus. He put evils into a box so that evil would enter the world.
  6. Which event, in your opinion, was the most dramatic? Give reasons for your answer. There are lots to choose from! This is your decision but you must have at least two reasons for your choice.
