VE Day Celebrations

On 8th May, we celebrate VE Day. What is VE Day? It marks the day in 1945 when fighting in Europe between the Allies and Nazi Germany came to an end. On this day, seventy five years ago, Nazi Germany formally surrendered to Britain and its allies. If you want to know more, take a look at the web links below.

In 1945, people gathered together.

Today, it’s a little more tricky to meet! How can we celebrate VE Day at home?

  • How about dressing in the colours of our flag? Wear red or white or blue or all three. Send us a photo.
  • Why not play some traditional games that children would have played in 1945? Try hide and seek, musical statues, musical bumps or charades.

  • Draw, colour or decorate a flag or bunting. You could even take a photograph of yourself with your flag or bunting for us to post on the website.

Below are copies of a flag and bunting if you would like to print them out.
