Reminder for Year 5 children and parents/guardians

We have  had a really busy week and the children are beginning to understand the important routines/timetable in Year five. Could you please remind the children that Physical Education is every Thursday morning and P.E. clothes do need to be worn for this activity. If your child wears earrings, then they must be removed  before they arrive in school. Any queries, please see the class teachers.

This week the children have been very excited about their independent homework task, which should have been given to you to read on Thursday.  The tasks set are based mainly on researching, investigating and using their creative minds to produce a final piece based on Tutankhamun/ Ancient Egyptians.  The deadline for this is 11th October 2018. In addition, the children will need to research Ancient Egyptian clothes and with your help dress up as an Ancient Egyptian for our ‘Ancient Egyptian’ day, which will take place in the last week of this half term.

Can you please help your child learn all their times tables and practise their ‘Key Instant Recall Facts’ daily, so they are ready for their weekly challenges. The maths website recommended on the homework sheet is an excellent way to practise key skills too. The children do need to read their lovely reading books everyday and already children are recommending authors and books, to each other, during reading time.

The children have made a great start to the year and we are looking forward to working with you and your child.
