We are going to have a look at topic sentences today. You will have seen topic sentences countless times in non-fiction books that you have read and probably not realised. They are the first sentence of a new section which simply explain what the paragraph is going to focus on. These are useful in non-fiction books as it is often the case the the reader is looking for specific information so they don’t want to have to read the entire book just to find out what a lion likes to eat. A topic sentence will help the reader do this.
