Safeguarding

Safeguarding means protecting a child’s right to live in safety, free from abuse and neglect. It is about working together to support children and young people to make decisions about the risks they face in their own lives, and protecting those who lack the capacity to make these decisions.

We all share responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, whether as a parent or family member; a friend or neighbour; a teacher or carer; or as a paid or volunteer worker.

If you have a concern please contact the Designated Safeguarding Lead named below.

At St Agnes we work very closely with the NSPCC to ensure that our children are kept safe.

The NSPCC's PANTS campaign aims to keep children safe from abuse.

The Underwear Rule is a simple way that parents can help keep children safe from sexual abuse -  without using scary words or even mentioning the word sex.

Operation Encompass

We continue to take part in a project which runs jointly between schools and Greater Manchester Police.

Operation Encompass is reporting to schools, prior to the start of the next school day when a child or young person has experienced any domestic abuse.

Operation Encompass will ensure that a member of the school staff (Designated Safeguard Lead) known as a key adult, is trained to allow them to liaise with the police and to use the information that has been shared, in confidence, whilst ensuring that the school is able to make provision for possible difficulties experienced by children, or their families, who have experienced a domestic abuse incident.

We believe that we must offer the best support possible to all our pupils, and we believe this will be extremely beneficial to all those involved.

To contact the school regarding Operation Encompass, please email encompass@st-agnes.manchester.sch.uk
