Intent

At St. Agnes, we believe that high-quality Physical Education (PE) is essential for the physical, mental, and social development of all our pupils.

Our PE curriculum is designed to be active, engaging, and inclusive, ensuring that every child participates in purposeful physical activity that promotes fitness, skill development, teamwork, and a lifelong love for movement.

Our goal is to provide PE lessons that are:

  • Dynamic and enjoyable - making physical activity fun and motivating for all pupils

  • Physically demanding - ensuring appropriate challenge and effort in every session

  • Maximising participation time - so that all pupils remain active throughout each lesson

Through our PE curriculum, we aim to:

  • Develop a positive attitude toward health and well-being

  • Instil the knowledge and motivation to lead active and healthy lifestyles both within and beyond the school environment

Implementation

Our PE curriculum is delivered through a broad range of activities that develop different physical skills and competencies.

Range of activities:

Pupils experience:

  • Games - developing tactical awareness, teamwork and competitive skills

  • Gymnastics - building strength, flexibility, control and creativity

  • Dance - expressing ideas through movement and developing rhythm and coordination

  • Athletics - improving running, jumping and throwing techniques

  • Outdoor challenges - building problem-solving, leadership and collaborative skills
