Look at the reading book band of your child’s home reading book and let them choose a book from that colour.
It will be pink, red, yellow or blue.
It’s very important to start off with a book that they can apply their phonic knowledge and skills to. This will help to increase their confidence and reading ability.
As your child becomes more confident and willing to read, you could help them choose a more challenging book. At this stage though, keep it simple, don’t rush and talk about the book with your child to check that he/she understands what they’ve read.
These ebooks are to develop the skill of reading/decoding; the best way of developing a love and enjoyment of stories and books is to read a fun story to your child.
