Year 6 Bike Marking Event 6th July 2017

We are working alongside Greater Manchester Police in a week of action to tackle cycle theft across the city. Police officers will be stepping up patrols, hosting bike marking events and talking to cyclists about what they can do to make their bikes less appealing to thieves. Year 6 children will be taking part in a bike marking event at school on Monday 6thth June 2017 at 10am and have asked these children to bring their bike into school on the day. All bikes will be stored in the small hall when they come into school and will remain there until the end of the day.

Taking part in this free bike marking events means the children’s bike will be marked with an individual code. This is a great deterrent to thieves and helps the police return any recovered bikes to owners in the event that are stolen. Each child’s bike’s frame number (normally stamped on the underside of the bottom bracket shell)  is individual to them and  will need to be kept somewhere safe – if Greater Manchester Police recover any bikes, this will let them know who the rightful owner is.
